Many hats of Dianne

Any of you who have volunteered here know Dianne.

Any of you who follow our Facebook group closely will also know Dianne.

She is the woman who is often wearing a silly outfit or an outrageous hat. Dianne often works with volunteers and once they figure her out, which I’m not going to lie might take a few minutes because her sense of humor is…..shall we say…..quirky, they quickly learn to love her.

I can’t tell you how many volunteers have told me that the reason they came back to volunteer again was because of Dianne. People especially request to work with Dianne sorting clothes.

About a month ago Diane handed me a giant bag of coins that weighed a ton.

She said to me, and I quote, “Here, take this and bring me back some real folding money!”

Dianne told me that she had been saving all of the coins that she found in pockets while she was sorting donated clothes and these were the coins from the last year. She said she wanted to do something nice for the volunteers with that money. The coins added up to be about $100. So, as instructed, I turned those coins into folding money and Dianne made Christmas ornaments for every volunteer that included a lottery ticket and some chocolates.

This gesture is quintessential Dianne – kind and thoughtful – done while wearing a crazy hat and while trying to give the illusion that she is a tough wise ass.

Merry Christmas, Dianne, you wacky, lovable woman!

Thanks

Thanks from the staff

The night before Christmas and the warehouse is shut up tight for the holiday break but not before we gave out thousands of toys and gifts.

All of our sponsored families gifts have gone out to our participating agencies. Afterward we opened up the warehouse to the caseworkers from our partner agencies to give out all the extra toys as well. The last 2 days of Magic of Christmas is the most hectic and over 25 caseworkers came in and selected from hundreds of toys to give out to their other clients.

Once again we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our donors, supporters and community and as a result over 4,000 people in need received gifts this year!

The caseworkers and agencies have all been extremely appreciative and grateful for the support of their families in need.

Thank you to everyone that contributed to putting Magic in Christmas for a child or family this year – you will never know how much it means to them!

As always we thank you for helping in any way you can. We couldn’t do this without the support of so many people in our community.

Thank you for helping us put some magic in so many lives this holiday.

Thank you and Happy Holidays from The Wish Project Staff

Caseworkers pick out toys for Christmas

Caseworkers from our partner agencies continued to pick out toys to be delivered to the last of their clients before Christmas. They are thrilled that they are able to help so many of their struggling clients this year. In a year like most of us have never known, donors have become clients and already struggling clients are in even greater need. We are so grateful for the tremendous support from our donors in spite of the pandemic. Our community cares!

Volunteers clean up

Three volunteers, Rob, Jayson and Dawn help Lori clean up after the great toy giveaway to our partner agencies this week! Lori has to do her magic and reorganize the project room to go back to holding our ongoing projects including the next project which will be BITS bags in the spring.

Grateful for our donors

Thank you to everyone that donated to our Magic of Christmas project. We have been overwhelmed with your generosity. Lori took this photo this morning, she said the toy was donated today and within an hour it went out to a caseworker from Miles Daycare Center. There will be so many grateful parents and happy children Christmas morning when they receive a gift under the tree!
